Happy New Year folks....
I hope everyone had a good Christmas, but don't feel bad if you didn't as I know it can be quite a stressful time for people. Lot's of financial pressures and family pressures. If you don't have family or are separated from your family it can be quite tough but whatever situation you found yourself in I hope you were able to enjoy it. This year was the first year that I hosted Christmas at my place and I took a lot of joy out of being the host. Being bought up in a Jewish household Christmas was not celebrated so we never had a tree. This year I bought a small tree for my small flat and invited friends, vagrants and misfits for a vegetarian feast. My good friend Paul Chi came along and brought a couple of his friends Rueben who comes from Kenya and Mitesh from India. Rueben is a fascinating man and he entertained us all with stories from his childhood growing up in Kenya, which included being attacked by a lion ( he has the scars to prove it! ) being shot in a political rally and being set on fire which led to him being hospitalised for over a year. This man had escaped death so many times, a true survivor! Later on Michelle D'Acosta a talented local film maker showed up and told us about her latest documentary which is about polio survivors in Sierra Leone and the great poverty they are living in. These people are in need of wheel chairs and crutches. If you want to find out more about her work here is a link to an excerpt from the film http://youtu.be/3vQAsarZAdU.
The highlight of the day was hearing Paul sing a couple of my favourite songs that he has written Christine and Feel The Colour....
Here is a small clip of Feel The Colour. I wish it was longer but unfortunately my phone ran out of space whilst filming.
